The 2020 March Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale results weren't too disappointing considering the restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19.

The sale grossed $7,882, 500 compared to $9,956,100 in 2019 with an average price of $28,457 which was $5,000 down on last year's average and a clearance rate of 74.06% conmpared to 82.64% in 2019. From the 412 lots offered, 277 were sold with 97 passed in and 38 withdrawn. The top lot was $170,000 for a Pride of Dubai filly our of Fiery Dee offered by Rier Junction and knocked down to Ontrack Thoroughbreds. Last year's top lot was a Spirit of Boom which went for $220,000.

While the results are down, it actually wasn't too bad when you consider the economic climate with the drought, the bushfires and then the financial impact that COVID-19 has had - with travel restrictions resulting in no international buyers, social distancing and limiting the gathering number at the sale to just 500 participants (which included staff and vendors).
