A very successful TAB Wayne Wilson Medal & Qld Trainers Awards Function was held Thursday night at the Pullman Airport Hotel Conference Centre. Major Sponsor TAB were represented by Sean Scott (TAB Head of Wagering Qld ) and his team.

175 industry participants attended, mostly trainers and their guests, a sprinkling of the jockeys associated with the winners, representatives from RQ (Brendan Parnell, Graham Quirk, Simon Stout, Ross Gove, Mary Collier), QRIC (Ross Barnett & Mark Ainsworth), BRC (Neville Bell, Tony Partridge & team), GCTC (Ian Brown), TBQA (Basil & Di Nolan), QJA (Pam O'Neill & Glen Prentice), ATA CEO Andrew Nicholl, Jason Woodwood (Nationwide Super), Kane McMonigle & Melissa Smith (Thoroughbred Payments) and members of the Racing media and our Sponsors.

The 2019 TAB Wayne Wilson Medal was won by Garry Newham (pictured) for Winning Ways victory in the Qld Oaks, runner-up Steven O'dea and in 3rd Chris Munce.

Adrian Coome won the Nationwide Super Rising Star award.

Charlotte White won the Trackside Photography Special Achievement Award.

Garnett Taylor won the Thoroughbred Payments Recognition Award.

Each year we try and improve and lift the profile of the function, and with the fantastic assistance of Alex Penklis (Brisbane Airport Hotels) those that attended certainly were impressed. The entertainment this year was once again first-class, with Darren Carr hitting the spot perfectly delivering one of the funniest and most entertaining comedy acts you could see. In contrast Les Ross did the best with the equipment he had! (but still managed to get a few well-deserved laughs)

Big thanks to all the others that assisted on the night - David Fowler (MC), Darren Winningham (Photography) and the team from Qld Licensee Assistance Assoc who we were able to raise nearly $10k for on the night.
