Worthy Cause to Stand at Clear Mountain Fairview

Worthy Cause, a powerful son of champion sire Choisir will commence stud duties at Clear Mountain Fairview in 2017 after an accomplished career on the track as an impressive Group winner.

From the stable of Queensland’s top juvenile trainer John Zielke, Worthy Cause was a tough and tenacious racehorse and showcased his outstanding ability from the time he won on debut.

He won as a two-year-old, collected Group honours as a three-year-old and continued to record black type success as a four-year-old at Flemington.

His biggest win came in the Group 3 GCTC Gunsynd Classic (1800m) by two lengths from multiple Group performer Upham.

Worthy Cause flaunts a pedigree of top class sprinters and champions, hailing from an outstanding family that includes Shogun Lodge (Gr.1 AJC Epsom Handicap, Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Gr.1 George Main Stakes), Referral (Gr.1 STC George Ryder Stakes) and Singing The Blues (Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate).

Worthy Cause flies the flagship for his champion sire Choisir, who is quickly becoming a sire of sires and Clear Mountain Fairview principal Bob Frappell could not be happier with the addition to the stud’s stallion ranks.

“Worthy Cause has arrived at Clear Mountain Fairview and has settled in beautifully,” Bob Frappell said.

“We are wrapped in the type of horse he is, great conformation and a kind eye.

“His pedigree and race performances demonstrate versatility and these aspects are certainly sought after when selecting a top sire prospect like Worthy Cause to stand at stud.

“He was a top level performer on the track and now he heads to the breeding barn to continue his family’s success story.

“Worthy Cause is a premium option for breeders with his extensive list of credentials. He will appeal to anyone with a broodmare,” Frappell said.

Worthy Cause stands at $5,500 with payment on a live foal available for breeders. He joins associate sires Hvasstan (2017 stud fee: $2,970) and Tycoon Ruler (2017 stud fee: $5,500).
